THE FATHER’S GIFT
John 14:16-17 “‘I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.’”
The Holy Spirit is not a figment of the imagination. Jesus did not refer to the Holy Spirit as “it”, “a thing.” He only refers to the Holy Spirit as “He” and “Him,” meaning that the Holy Spirit is a person!
After Jesus’ resurrection, His focus was the Holy Spirit, the source of true power. The Holy Spirit is a gift from the Father and not just for the disciples! God’s gift is for all believers and God intends this gift to be with us forever. When you accept Jesus in your heart, the Spirit of God comes to live within you. The Father didn’t give us the Holy Spirit to remain dormant and ignored. He’s not to be just part of our life; He is to BE our life. He is alive and well in us and He wants us to know Him. How? By allowing Him to be an active part of our lives. When we seek His voice and His guidance, He shares with us the knowledge, wisdom, revelation and understanding that can only come through the Counselor, the Spirit of Truth. We know He’s real and we let ourselves be His hands and His feet and His mouthpiece.
The world may not see Him, the world may not know Him, but they can see Him in operation through a life given over to the Spirit of God, who knows all things, sees all things and can do all things. And that life is to be YOU!
Jesus explained to the disciples, “If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father.” Likewise, if we allow the Spirit to become fully operational as God intended Him to be in us, we can also say, “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Holy Spirit.” The world should see the Holy Spirit, hear the Holy Spirit and experience the Holy Spirit through us.
Once they’ve experienced the Holy Spirit in you, they will know they have experienced the Holy Spirit!
